Cut Off incident sparks arrest, search and drug discovery


A 29-year-old Galliano man is in the custody of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff”s Office after an assault call led to a sizable drug arrest.

At around 3 p.m. yesterday, a man was traveling on a bicycle along La. Highway 3162 in Cut Off when another man, identified as Christopher Grant, 29, of Galliano, emerged from a vehicle in a driveway and started to argue with him.

The man said that during the argument, Grant threatened to shoot him. The victim also said that Grant showed him a handgun that he allegedly had tucked into his pants.


At that time, the victim flagged down a deputy who was passing by to report the incident and Grant allegedly quickly ran into the nearby residence to attempt to flee.

Authorities say that Grant had an active warrant for his arrest.

Additional deputies responded to the residence and Grant exited and was taken into custody.


He did not have any weapon in his possession at the time of his arrest.

Authorities conducted a search of his residence to search for the firearm and they did not find one.

But they did locate approximately 26.5 grams of synthetic marijuana, 21.6 grams of cocaine, 10.2 grams of methamphetamine, 15 doses of Xanax and 2 doses of Valium.


They also located various drug paraphernalia commonly associated with the selling of illegal narcotics. All of the illegal items located were determined to have been in Grant’s possession.

Grant was arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux. He is charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, cocaine and synthetic marijuana. He was also charged with simple assault and possession of Valium, Xanax and drug paraphernalia. He also was booked on his outstanding warrant for contempt of court.

Suspect charged with kidnapping, sexual battery


A 39-year-old Thibodaux man is charged with kidnapping and sexual battery after a missing person report sparked an investigation.

At around 1 a.m. on June 22, the Thibodaux Police Department responded to a report that a mentally disabled woman in her 40s was missing.

It was then suspected that Anthony Adams, 39, of Thibodaux, who is known to the family, may have picked up the woman earlier in the evening.


Authorities later learned through investigation that Adams was at a motel outside of Thibodaux city limits.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the motel and found Adams’ vehicle.

After determining which room the suspect was in, they attempted to make contact.


After some time, Adams came to the door. Authorities were able to locate the missing woman inside of the hotel room and she allegedly appeared emotionally distraught.

Detectives responded to the scene.

Through investigation, they learned that Adams sexually battered the woman after removing her from her home without proper permission. The woman then asked to leave, but Adams refused to take her home.


Following investigation, Adams was arrested.

He is charged with simple kidnapping and misdemeanor sexual battery. He was released after posting a $6,500 bond.
