Reward offered for information regarding to dead bull


The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office is looking for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for the death of a bull last month in Cut Off.

On Dec. 27, deputies responded to an area off La. Highway 3235 near West 54th Street in Cut Off in reference to a bull being found dead by its owner.

The bull was located in a pasture outside the South Lafourche levee system. It was found to have a small wound near its ribs and the cause of the wound is unknown at this time.


According to authorities, the bull’s owner reportedly heard several gunshots in the area on Dec. 24, 2018, but no projectile was found in the animal.

The bull is worth several thousands of dollars, according to LPSO.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers Bayou Region at 1-800-743-7433. Information that leads to an arrest may net a $1,000 cash reward.


4 arrested on narcotics charged

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced four people were arrested after narcotics agents conducted a search at a Bayou Blue residence. Agents arrested William Ammons, 64, and Melissa Belanger, as well as Brie Henn, 45, and Sacha Benoit. 40. All four are from Bayou Blue.

As part of an ongoing investigation, narcotics agents executed a search, warrant at 179 Louise Lane in Bayou Blue. Upon arrival, agents encountered the four suspects and they were detained. During a search of the residence, agents located various suspected narcotics including methamphetamine heroin, marijuana, Xanax, Klonopin, and Suboxone. Agents also located various drug paraphernalia including digital scales, baggies, syringes and a smoking pipe.


After determining ownership of the items, all four subjects were arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. Ammons was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, as well as Possession of Xanax, Klonopin and Drug Paraphernalia. Ammons’ bond is set at $30,500 Belanger was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Marijuana, Suboxone, and Drug Paraphernalia, and her bend is set at $21,000 Henn was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Marijuana, Heroin, and his bond is set at $20,500. Benoit was charged with Possession of Heroin. Marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia, and she was also booked with outstanding warrants for Distribution of Heroin, Distribution of Methamphetamine, and Illegal Possession of Stolen Things. Benoit’s bond is set at $61,000.
