HONORABLE MENTION: South Lafourche defense – Against a pretty stout Morgan City offense, the Tarpons defense showed their teeth in Friday night’s district opening game. South Lafourche shut out the Tigers offense, keeping them out of the end zone for the entire 48 minutes of the game. Coach Dennis Skains said it was the best performance for his defense this season.

BRONZE: Vandebilt defensive end Chase Hutchinson – It takes a lot for a defensive player to make our list, but Chase Hutchinson was all over the field on Thursday against South Terrebonne. Terriers coach Jeremy Atwell said Hutchinson had three sacks and five tackles for a loss in the team’s win.

SILVER: Houma Christian halfback Efferem Moore – The Warriors tailback bruised St. Martin’s in an easy win. The powerful back carried the ball for more than 200 yards and two touchdowns in Houma Christian’s second win of the season.

GOLD: Thibodaux athlete Donnell Adair – For the second-straight week, Adair was a force for Thibodaux High. Adair rushed for four touchdowns against Central Lafourche, eating up the Trojans defense from start-to-finish in a huge win for the Tigers.
