Interested in networking with women in business?

The Women’s Business Alliance is hosting a luncheon 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 14 at the Quality Hotel, 210 S. Hollywood Road in Houma.


Retired U.S. Army Col. Jeanne Picariello Murphy is the guest speaker. Murphy is a former intercollegiate and international athlete, served on the U.S. Olympic Committee and led the U.S. delegation to the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens. Murphy spent 10 years as a U.S. Army nurse.

Three graduating females from the Bayou Region will also be awarded WBA’s 2015 academic scholarships at the luncheon.

In addition to providing networking opportunities to professional businesswomen from the area, WBA supports women in the workplace and the community at large with educational activities, charitable donations, business resources, professional recognitinon and informative programs.


Membership is $30 yearly. The association holds general luncheons every othe month. The cost of those is $20, which covers the meal.

Membership is open to those who want to participate in meeting other business professionals, learn more about the business world, mentor, get involved with community activities and improve the quality of life for women by empowering them in their professional and personal endeavors.
