April 14, 2016Bayou Blue Pontoon Bridge open again
The Bayou Blue Pontoon Bridge on La. Highway 316 is back in service after a two-and-a-half week closure. The bridge, which crosses the Intracoastal Canal Waterway, was closed to traffic since March 24 while the DOTD performed mechanical and electrical repairs to the bridge’s apron winch system. The bridge reopened on Monday.
HL Bourgeois to host sign dedication
H.L. Bourgeois High School will unveil the new digital sign in its front yard on Friday.
The state-of-the-art sign will allow the school to advertise important events and urgent messages to the public in real time. The sign is a product of two years of fundraising, with Barker Buick-GMC matching the school’s $10,000 raised and the school’s senior class paying the remaining balance.
