May 23, 2017Colonels baseball takes 2 over weekend
The Nicholls State University baseball team needed to win this weekend against UNO.
It did, which sets up a huge series to close out the season next weekend.
The Colonels took two out of three games from the Privateers, improving to seventh place in the Southland Conference standings with the wins.
But the work for the Colonels is not yet done.
They will travel to Central Arkansas this weekend, and will likely need to win the series to be 100 percent safe.
The top eight teams make the Southland Conference Tournament, which begins next week.
The Colonels do have some built-in advantages, because they own tiebreakers on a lot of the teams near them in the standings.
