Candidate forum in Thibodaux


Lafourche Parish Council and State Legislature candidates are both invited to a candidate forum on Thursday afternoon that will be centered around the upcoming election.

The forum will take place at the Lafourche ARC training room, located at 100 West Main St., in Thibodaux. It will be held from 4-6p.m.

During the forum, the voting public will be able to get information from the candidates, as well being able to hear each’s policy plans.


NSU Talbot Hall, Danos Theater undergoing $6.7M in renovations

Nicholls State has begun renovating Talbot Hall and the building’s Mary M. Danos Theater.

The $6.7 million upgrade includes new seats, curtains, flooring and state-of-the-art lighting and sound equipment. The campus TV studio, KNSU radio station and two classrooms are also being upgraded.


The project is expected to be complete before the fall 2016 semester.

Road widening discussed

Thibodaux Mayor Tommy Eschete is hosting a public session tonight to discuss the North Canal Widening Project. The meeting will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the VCH Fire Station, 921, N. Canal Blvd.


Construction is set to begin in January 2016. Workers will four-lane the road from the intersections of St. Patrick Highway to La. Highway 308. Left-hand turn lanes will also be added.

Eschete intends to talk about how the work will affect local businesses.
