March 7, 2017Tarpons baseball team off to a strong start in 2017 season
South Lafourche’s baseball team just missed the Class 4A State Playoffs last season.
If early results in the 2017 season are any indication, it doesn’t look like the Tarpons will have to worry about that problem again this season.
The Tarpons have been rolling in 2017, owning a 5-2 record in the first seven games of the season.
This past weekend at the Helen Cox Tournament, the Tarpons outscored two opponents by a 25-1 margin, beating Helen Cox 15-1 and Grace King 10-0.
The Tarpons played Crescent City yesterday with no score available at press-time.
This weekend, they will travel to the Plaquemine Tournament.
District play starts on March 23 when the team travels to Morgan City.
South Lafourche won just nine games last season under coach Jacob Midyett.
