January 10, 2017Colonel ladies earn key conference victory
Nicholls State University’s women’s basketball team struggled in non-conference play, winning just three games in 11 tries.
But so far in conference, the Colonels are proving to be pesky – a team capable of making noise for the remainder of the season.
Nicholls beat Sam Houston State on the road this past weekend, improving to 2-1 in Southland play in the victory.
Sophomore guard and Houma native Cassidy Barrios and freshman guard Tykeria Williams led the Colonels with 18 points each.
Seniors Emani White and Taylor Morrison were also key, adding 13 and 11 points, respectively.
With the victory, the Colonels are now 5-9 on the season and 2-1 in league play.
The ladies return to action on Thursday night at Northwestern State University.
