November 1, 2016Lafourche NAACP to host banquet
The Lafourche Parish NAACP will host its annual Scholarship Banquet this Saturday at 6 p.m. at the St. Luke Community Center in Thibodaux. More than a dozen young people will receive scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000. This year’s theme is “If You Fail to Plan, You Plan to Fail.”
Terrebonne Parish Councilwoman Arlanda Williams and Terrebonne Regional Medical Center CEO Greg Stock are the evening’s keynote speakers.
The Times’ Senior Staff Writer John DeSantis will give a presentation on his new book “The Thibodaux Massacre: Racial violence and the 1887 Sugar Cane Labor Strike.”
