NSU reschedules home finale

The Nicholls State University football team will play its final home game of the season on TV.

The Colonels announced on Monday afternoon that the team’s Nov. 14 game against Central Arkansas will air live on the American Sports Network.

To accommodate ASN’s time slot, the game will also kickoff at 6 p.m., up three hours from the original 3 p.m. time.

The matchup between the teams will also mark Senior Night for Nicholls in its first season under Tim Rebowe.

The Colonels have three games this season. They take on Lamar this weekend and Southeastern Louisiana on Nov. 19. Both games are on the road.

TFAE passes $1M grant giveaway

The Terrebonne Foundation for Academic Excellence in Public Education (TFAE) gave out $22,914 in grant money for the 2015-16 school year to five public school programs created by teachers.

The TFAE has now given out more than $1 million since the 2001-02 school year. The foundation also keeps track of estimates of how many children each program should impact.

According to those estimates, TFAE-funded programs have reached more than 47,000 children in that same time frame.

Most of the grant money this year went to South Terrebonne High School, with more than $19,000 of this year’s TFAE funds going to two programs.
