Fireworks illegal in Terrebonne, limited in Lafourche

Think twice before lighting that bottle rocket in Terrebonne Parish.

It’s against the law to fire, ignite, shoot discharge or otherwise set off fireworks within Terrebonne, according to Houma Police Chief Todd Duplantis.

Violators can be sentenced up to 30 days in parish jail or fined up to $500.

Fireworks are legal in Lafourche through 9 p.m. on Sunday.

In the July 4th spirit? Ready for a patriotic concert?

Good news: The Houma-Terrebonne Community Band will perform a concert of patriotic music under the portico of the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 4.

The public is invited to attend. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring a chair, sunscreen and a hat.
