Nicholls freshman Amanda Gianelloni was named the Southland Conference’s Hitter of the Week on Monday morning after a dominant weekend series against Incarnate Word.
The Assumption High School graduate went 6-for-8 at the plate with two home runs on the weekend, including a grand-slam shot to help the Colonels win the series opener.
For the season, Gianelloni is batting .386 and is near the top of the conference in virtually every major offensive category.
Nicholls is now 13-4 in league play on the season.
WBA holding meeting
The Women’s Business Alliance is hosting a luncheon tomorrow at the Home wood Suites in Houma. Angela Dabney-Marioneaux, owner of The Angel’s Den and co-owner of DMA Trucking, is the featured speaker.
