Election this weekend for senatorial election, school tax measures

Lafourche Parish voters may cast ballots for a special senatorial election in some areas and for parish-wide items on renewal of a bond for the Lafourche Parish School District as well as a proposed one percent tax for teacher salaries and other educational benefits Saturday.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

There are 13 candidates for the Second District senatorial seat which was occupied by Troy Brown, who resigned due to issues surrounding his history of violence against women.

Election officials ask that you bring a driver’s license, Louisiana special ID or some other recognized picture ID that contains name and signature.

If you don’t have any of the above you can still vote by filing a ballot with a special affidavit.
