Bayou Region Chapter 825 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart meets at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Houma American Legion Hall, 602 Legion Ave.
All Purple Heart recipients, their spouses and descendants are welcome to attend, or to join the order.
The purpose of the association is to foster friendship, support fellow service members and assist the community at large.

Seat belt checkpoint in Lafourche Parish today
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will perform a seat belt checkpoint in Lafourche Parish during today. Deputies will be checking drivers for seat belt and safety seat violations, as well as other violations such as expired inspection tags.
This checkpoint is part of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office’s year-long campaign designed to raise awareness for these types of violations and make the highways of the parish safer for all motorists.
