Lafourche Law Enforcement District Hearing Set

The Lafourche Parish Law Enforcement District will hold a public hearing regarding the levying of millage rates at 10 a.m. Sept. 13, at the Sheriff’s Office Administrative Building, 200 Canal St. in Thibodaux.

The meeting is being held to consider levying additional millage rates or otherwise adjusting them, so that they do not exceed the prior year’s maximum as set by law.

The estimated amount of tax revenues to be collected in the next tax year from the increased millage is $10,515,873.39 and the estimated amount of increase in taxes attributable to the millage increase is $482,278.62. It should be noted that these amounts are merely “estimates” due to the unavailability of the assessed amounts as of this date. Actual amounts may vary once the Reassessment Rolls are completed by the Lafourche Parish Assessor.
