Congressman Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana) announced the theme for first congressional district’s theme in the National Congressional Art Competition. The competition is open to high school students in the district. The theme this year is “Louisiana: The Place I Call Home.” For more details, email Danielle.evans@mail.house.gov.
Bayou Lafourche closed to boat traffic today
Bayou Lafourche will close to marine traffic from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, according to the South Lafourche Levee District.
During the closure, crews will be working on the floodgate with a small crane barge on site.
The bayou will be open for marine traffic before 7 a.m. and after 7 p.m.

Basketball playoffs under way in Houma-Thibodaux area
The boys’ and girls’ prep basketball playoffs are officially under way in the Houma-Thibodaux area.
