Purses and Promises

Grab your girlfriends and attend this fun and fabulous TFAE event in support of children’s literacy in Terrebonne Parish! Purses & Promises is a fundraiser for the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Terrebonne Parish. Through this program, registered children receive an age-appropriate book every month until their firth birthday at no cost to their families. Tickets are $55/person. Your ticket includes appetizers, drinks, wine, and sponsorship of a child in the Imagination Library. The fun includes: cash bar; raffles and door prizes; gently used purses for sale and silent auction; new designer purses for live auction; and much more!

Southdown Marketplace

Nov. 2, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Southdown Plantation, Houma

Southdown Marketplace is a one-day arts & crafts festival that features approximately 300 booths from local and national vendors with unique hand-made products including jewelry, clothing, wood crafts, original art, garden items, seasonal products and more! Admission is $5; children 12 and under are free. Santa will be joining the fun and taking selfies from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.


Louisiana Swamp Stomp Festival

Lafourche Central Market, Raceland

Grab your friends and enjoy the free Louisiana Swamp Stomp Festival! There are local vendors, delicious local food and local music at the fest. Local music includes Waylon Thibodeaux, Quatre Coin Throwdown, and The Daiquiri Queens. Be sure to catch the young Allemand Dancers doing traditional Cajun dances.

Acadia Music Fest

Join the biggest names in music at Acadia Music Fest, presented by the Ben Meyer Foundation. This year’s headliners include Flo Rida, Choppa, Rehab, Anders Osborne and locals like Ben Labat and Soul Survivors. An art market, kids zone and food court round out this one-day festival experience.

Vandebilt Catholic Open House

Vandebilt Catholic High School, Houma

Tour the campus, meet current students and faculty, explore extracurricular activities and learn more about Vandebilt Catholic High School. Please RSVP by emailing your name, school and grade level to kvicknair@vchterriers.org. Campus tours will begin at 5 p.m. and start every 10 minutes until 7 p.m. (Each tour will last just under two hours.) Parking will be available in the lot off Tunnel Blvd.

Thibodeauxville Fall Festival

Pass a good time at the 27th annual Thibodeauxville Fall Festival. Thibodaux is the place for excitement with dozens of arts and crafts booths, 5-and 10K races, music, food and more during Thibodeauxville. The music line-up across three stages includes Soul Survivor, Rockin’ Dopsie, Comasse, and a Cajun jam with the Cajun Music Preservation Society. The famous Duck Race takes place at 4 p.m. Admission to the festival is free.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Take the first step to a world without Alzheimer’s. Join friends and family as they complete a two-mile walk to raise funds to further the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Kids Cooking Class

Rouses Markets is hosting a Kids Cooking Class with Chef Sally! The kids will be making Turkey cupcakes and Turkey Hot Brown Macaroni. The kids will be sent home with recipes to make these fun treats. Each child will have the option to enjoy their delicious creations or take them home to enjoy later. Class is for ages 5-12. Space is limited. Sign up required. 

The Great Turkey Escape!

The Great Turkey Escape is a family-friendly Thanksgiving Escape Room Experience. Should you accept the challenge, you must discover clues, solve puzzles, and complete other tasks to help the turkey escape from being the main course for Thanksgiving! Bring friends to form a team, or join a team at the library.
