Add a little more hardware into Cassidy Barrios’ ever-growing trophy case.

The Colonels’ senior guard was named First-Team All-Southland Conference this week, marking the first time in Nicholls history that a player wins the award twice in a career.

Barrios was also selected to the conference’s All-Defensive Team for the second-straight year, as well.

Barrios averages 20.7 points, 10.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game for Nicholls, one of six players in the country to average 20 points and 10 rebounds in a game.

The Colonels will begin play in the Southland Conference Tournament on Friday at 1:30 p.m. against the winner between UNO and Texas A&M – Corpus Christi.

The Colonels will need to win three games in consecutive days to make the NCAA Tournament.

Editor’s Note: Congrats to Cassidy. No one deserves the successes and the accolades more than she does. But Southland voters are insanely inept if she wasn’t the Conference Player of the Year. How can one lead the league in scoring AND rebounds BOTH and not win the title? Shame!
