Randy “Buckwheat” J. Morvant, 47, a native and resident of Thibodaux, La., died at 6:54 a.m. Tuesday, May 13.
He is survived by his fiancé, Martha Street; daughter, Megan Morvant and fiancé, Ernest Derouen; stepson, Joshua Firmature; stepdaughter, Amanda Firmature and fiancé, William Jones; brothers, Leroy Morvant Jr. and Jason Morvant; sisters, Lisa M. Thibodeaux and Judy M. Eusea; grandchildren, Justin Derouen and Breyana Jones; his pet dog, Droppy; and his pet cat, Q-Tipp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Evelyn Durocher Morvant.
He was a master woodwork and loved to cook for Mary. He was employed with Frost Lumber Company for 14 years. He loved many and was loved by many in the community.
Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux with mass to follow. He will be buried at the church cemetery.
Thibodaux Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
