Bill William Bernard, 67, a native of Golden Meadow, La., and resident of Larose, La., died at 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 2010.


Mr. Bernard was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9000, American Legion Post 259 of Golden Meadow, a volunteer fireman in Golden Meadow, co-hosted United Cerebral Palsy Telethon, and a member of the original Golden Meadow Tarpons fast pitching softball team in 1958. He was retired after 38 years working for the United States Postal Service.

He is survived by his daughter, Brett (Ross) Guidry; brothers, Melvin (Rose), Louis, Charles (Joyce) and Douglas (Nina) Bernard; sisters, Thelma “Sis” Leonard and Mary Ann (Curtis) Pierce; sister-in-law, Mary Lee Bernard; and brothers-in-law, Ted and Andy Oliver.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Andrea “Suzie” Oliver Bernard; parents, Alcide J. and Pauline Williams Bernard; sister-in-law, Geri Bernard; brother-in-law, Adam Leonard; and three brothers, Dudley, Norris “Brod” (Ezola) and Stanley (Mary) Bernard.

He is buried at Cheramie Cemetery.
