Thomas Blum Cobb, 69, local historian and author, native of New Orleans, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, Feb. 24, at 11 p.m.


Husband of Donna Levy Cobb of Houma; son of the late G.L. Cobb and Bessie Blum Antis; grandson of the late Leopold and Amalia Lewald Blum; father of Michael Cobb of Houma, Thomas Cobb, Jr. and wife Lori of St. Louis, Mo., Margaret Carroll and husband Al of Prairieville, La., Erin Finch and husband Ty of Atlanta, Ga., and the late George Fakier Cobb; brother of George Cobb of Baton Rouge, La., Herman Antis and wife Juanita of San Diego, Ca., Susan Smith of Cary, N.C., and the late Tracey Cobb. Also survived by six grandchildren: Amalie Cobb, Olivia Cobb, Gabriel Cobb, Julia Carroll, Katherine Finch, John Finch; and numerous nieces and nephews.


He was president of Blum and Bergeron Dried Shrimp Company, member of Elks and Rotary Club and Houma Downtown Development Corporation. He was also a member of Temple of Sinai of New Orleans and Beth El Congregation of Houma.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, with an Elks service at 7:30 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Chauvin Funeral Home with the religious service to follow. Interment will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Gray, La.

Donations may be made to American Cancer Society and Houma Elks 1193/ Hope Lodge New Orleans.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
