Honorable Mention: Thibodaux High School’s defense – We’ve never crowned an Honorable Mention in the history of our player of the week segment in our paper. But this week, there were just too many standout performers to pick just three. The Thibodaux High School defense needed to be recognized after giving a lights-out performance against Destrehan. The Tigers limited the Wildcats throughout the game and did a nice job keeping the game close. Their performance deserves a giant pat on the back.

Bronze: CCA halfback Devyn Allen – With a slew of the Lions’ top pieces out of the lineup, Allen solidified the Lions’ offense on Friday night, rushing for more than 100 yards and a touchdown to lead CCA to a much-needed district victory.

Silver: South Terrebonne halfback Cristian Wallis – On paper, the South Terrebonne/Vandebilt game is always predicted to be a close, hard-fought game. But the 2014 version of the contest was a one-sided blowout. The Gators can thank Wallis for that. The dominant halfback scored four touchdowns in the Gators’ rout of Vandebilt, gashing the Terriers’ defense throughout the game.

Gold: South Lafourche quarterback Harvey Allen – Central Lafourche defenders will be seeing Harvey Allen in their nightmares for years to come. The Tarpons’ quarterback rushed 20 times for 168 yards and four touchdowns in Friday night’s win. He also completed 7-of-9 passes for 129 yards with a score to solidify himself as the leading scorer in the area. Oh yeah – he’s only a junior, too. Good luck to all you defensive coordinators out there.
