Casey,

I have to hand it to you. You stick your neck out for putting our football “God” on the hot seat. But as much as I want to see Drew Brees around forever, reality will have to set in for us sooner or later. Having been a Saints fan from the beginning it not only took Tom Benson’s pocketbook to open up but it also took Hurricane Katrina to save the Saints. I mean face it. If that storm wouldn’t have happened, the Dome would have probably never been upgraded and the Saints could very well be in San Antonio. But since then we have been riding on one of the best QB’s of all time and enjoying every minute of it. Great article but hopefully we can get one more Super Bowl out of Brees.

Casey,

Find a new Brees? WOW! That’s like saying find a new Brady or Peyton Manning! Drew’s numbers are down, but look around the NFL. Only a handful of teams have quarterbacks as good or better than Brees, and I mean the current Brees. There have to be 20 teams in the NFL who would KILL to have not only the Drew Brees of today, but the Drew Brees of 3-5 years from now. Watch those other quarterbacks. Cam Newton is a mental basket case. Tony Romo can’t win the big games. Colin Kapernick is not a great passer. Those guys are all big names, but I would not trade Brees for any of them. Most of the others are just plain too inaccurate for today’s game. Some teams have been through 4 or 5 quarterbacks already this season. Great quarterbacks are rare and we are lucky to have one in New Orleans.
