“Death Always Comes in Threes” (Houma)


Aug. 2-4, at 7:30 p.m., and Aug. 5 at 2 p.m., at the Le Petit Theatre de Terrebonne, 7929 Main St. Tickets are $10. For more info: (985) 876-2222. The trilogy of one-act plays is set in a small-town funeral parlor. The dark comedies explore the relationships of a widow and her squabbling daughters; the widows of a deceased traveling salesman; and a funeral home assistant who shows a young handyman about dreams, expectations and taking chances in life.

“The Shape of Things” (Houma)


Aug. 30-31 and Sept. 1-2, at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center, 346 Civic Center Blvd., at 8 p.m. weekdays and 3 p.m. weekends. Tickets are $15, and go on sale starting Aug. 7. Intended for mature audiences only, the performance is presented by The Sam & Jim Acting Company. For more info: (985) 217-0193. Quiet, unassuming Adam is changing in a major way, thanks to his new girlfriend. Adam’s friends, in the meantime, are a little freaked by the transformation.


“The Lieutenant of Inishmore” (New Orleans)

“The Wind in the Willows” (New Orleans)

“Fleeing Katrina: Inspiring Journeys of Survival” (Westwego)

Aug. 29, Aug. 31-Sept. 2, at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 5 p.m. Sundays, at the Westwego Performing Arts Theatre, 177 Sala Ave. #A. For more info: (504) 371-3330. The monologue play is based on factual evacuation experiences. Having played to positive reviews at New York’s Midtown International Theatre Festival, the show returns home.
