His life is viewed through the lens of the Ziegfeld Follies, which he often headlined in his heyday.

“Cocktail” (Baton Rouge) through May 6, at 8 p.m., at the Swine Palace, Reilly Theatre, Tower Drive. Set in 1995, the Thai pharmaceutial scientis Krisana Kraisintu began manufacturing a generic version of the anti-HIV drug AZT. Against all odds, she singlehandedly saved the lives of thousands of AIDs patients who were given access to affordable life-saving drugs for the first time. Updated Fables” (Houma) May 11-13, at 7 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m., at the Le Petit Theatre de Terrebonne in Downtown Houma. The play consists of six wellknown stories updated to the present, with characters right out of the fables. Admission is $5. All proceeds go toward SoLa Center for the Arts programs. “Honk!” auditions (Houma) May 7-8, at 7 p.m., at the Le Petit Theatre de Terrebonne. Director Pat Hornsby Crochet is looking for 16-20 people of varying ages. There are roles for six to eight teen/adult males; six to eight teen/adult females; and four to six roles for children ages 8 to 12. Auditions will consist of singing, dancing and reading. Each participant should prepare a short song to be sun without accompaniment. “Honk!” is a musical version of Hans Christian Anderson’s classic story “The Ugly Duckling.” Show dates are July 12-15, 18-22 and 25-29.
