“The Cathedral Choir and Les Amis de la Chanson present Music for Lent” (Houma) March 9, at 7 p.m., at the Cathedral of St. Francis de Sales. Admission is free. The Cathedral Choir and the concert choir, Les Amis de la Chanson, will join forces with guest instrumentalists in presenting choral works significant to the Lent season.

The vicious hunchbacked jester at the court of Mantua has hidden his daughter from the world, particularly from the Duke of Mantua. However, the Duke has encountered Gilda and won her heart. Outraged, Rigoletto plots the Duke’s assassination as revenge. Gilda learns of the plot, and pays the ultimate price for interfering.

“Themes of Home” (New Orleans)
