Twelve stages of the world’s most diverse music, fantastic food showcasing Louisiana’s unique taste, and one-of-a-kind art creations. That’s right, it’s Jazz Fest time!

This year’s lineup is a proverbial who’s who in entertainment: Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, The Eagles, Foo Fighters, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, a Beach Boy reunion, Bon Iver, Florence + The Machine and Ce Lo Green for starters.

Then there’s the hundreds of Louisiana artists: Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, Irma Thomas, Pete Fountain, Kermit Ruffins & the Barbecue Swingers, Better Than Ezra, Rebirth Brass Band and plenty more.

And Houma’s own Grammy-nominated bluesman, Tab Benoit, takes the Acura Stage Saturday, April 28, with the Voice of the Wetlands Allstars and solo at the Blues Tent stage Sunday, April 29.

Teamed with the R&B, gospel, international, rock, blues and every other imaginable sound is veritable sampler of classic New Orleans fare. The various crafts and marketplaces call to art lovers. Whether it’s pieces from Africa and the Africa Diaspora in Congo Square, contemporary crafts like handcrafted clothing, leather goods and hand-blown glass, or traditional and contemporary pieces created by local artists on display in the Louisiana Marketplace, visitors can find anything from the whimsical to the thought-provoking.

Jazz Fest is April 27-29 and May 3-6, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day, at the Fair Grounds Race Course.

Tickets are $65 at the gate; $5 for children ages 2 to 10.

Tab Benoit plays the Acura Stage at this year’s Jazz Fest on April 28. He’ll follow that with a solo performance in the Blues Tent the following day.
