A Raceland man was arrested this week for a crime authorities said he committed approximately 10 years ago.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office authorities opened an investigation into Michael Lirette Sr., 66, of Raceland, in Oct. 2017 after a teenage victim came forward. The victim told authorities that Lirette had inappropriate sexual contact with her, including sexual intercourse when she was under 10.

The victim said the inappropriate contact occurred multiple times over a span of approximately five years.

On Nov. 7, detectives made contact with Lirette. Following questioning, he was arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on first-degree rape charges.

His bond is set at $30,000.
