The Houma Police announced the arrest of a suspect who allegedly beat a victim with a metal object near the corner of Furman and Grand Caillou Road.

On Jan. 23, authorities were called to the above-stated location after reports of an alleged beating.


Upon arrival, officers located a 52-year-old male victim, who had been severely beaten.

The victim was then taken to a local hospital by ambulance where he was treated for his injuries.

Through investigation, authorities identified the suspect as William Poindexter, 55.


Police said it is not yet known why Poindexter attacked the victim, but he allegedly used a metal object in the attack.

Poindexter was found later and taken into custody without incident.

He is charged with aggravated second-degree battery.
