Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced that the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office has a Bourg man in custody after an incident in Montegut, which culminated in two TPSO Deputies, and the male suspect obtaining medical treatment.
Today, TPSO Deputies were called to a levee in Montegut after a male driver damaged a closed gate and struck an unoccupied Parish vehicle. As Deputies attempted to make contact with the male, he fled the area in a vehicle, leading to a pursuit with TPSO Deputies. During the pursuit, the driver committed many extremely dangerous driving maneuvers, which resulted in a crash involving the suspect vehicle and a Sheriff’s Office marked unit, in the 1100 block of Hwy 55. Both vehicles struck an unoccupied residence causing severe damage to the structure, along with injuries to the driver and TPSO Deputies. The driver was taken into custody a short time later.
The male suspect was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment, and remains in Sheriff’s Office custody. The extent of injuries to the suspect and Deputies are not known at this time, but appear to be non life threatening.
This is an active and ongoing investigation that remains in the initial stages. Detectives are on scene continuing the investigation. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
The identity of the male suspect is not being released at this time.
