Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Houma man on charges, stemming from a disturbance complaint investigated by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division. Standard Laquan Whitrack, 29, was arrested for multiple criminal offenses as a result of his involvement in the investigation.
On January 3rd, shortly before 11:30am, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division were called to an address in the 100 block of Hacienda Drive, in response to a report of a disturbance at the residence. When Deputies arrived, they learned further details of the disturbance, which identified Standard Whitrack’ s involvement. Deputies discovered that Whitrack left the residence in a vehicle just prior to their arrival but was located moments later when the vehicle was stopped by Authorities. Deputies quickly determined that Whitrack was wanted for outstanding warrants in an unrelated incident, and as Deputies attempted to take him into custody, he actively resisted the arrest. After a short struggle, Whitrack was taken into custody with the use of a department issued Taser control device.
Deputies later transported Whitrack to a local hospital, for a precautionary medical assessment. While at the facility, Whitrack attempted to escape custody by pushing hospital security staff, which led to at least one Terrebonne Deputy being kicked during the physical encounter with Whitrack. Authorities gained control of Whitrack, who was later transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex.
Standard Laquan Whitrack was arrested for charges of Resisting an officer with force or violence (2 counts), Battery of a police officer, Simple Escape, Simple Battery, and outstanding warrants for Domestic Abuse Battery. Standard Whitrack remains jailed on a $175,000 bond by local judges.
Sheriff Tim Soignet would like to commend the quick response of the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, which directly affected the apprehension of Whitrack, and overall safe resolution of this incident. Sheriff Soignet said, “Our Deputies do an incredible job when dealing with the dangers of their day-to-day encounters. I can’t say enough about how amazing this Division is, and the level of safety they provide for our community.”
Arrested persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
