A 30-year-old Houma man is in custody of the Houma Police Department after allegedly dealing a variety of narcotics out of a dark SUV in city limits.

On Jan. 7 just before 4 a.m., HPD said it was called to the 600 block of Wilson Avenue in reference to a narcotics complaint.

While on the scene, HPD officers learned that a male was seen dealing narcotics out of a dark-colored SUV in the area.

When officers arrived on scene, the dark-colored SUV was located and a male was sitting inside.

Authorities identified the man as Jordan Smith, 30, of Wilson Avenue.

Upon contacting Smith, authorities noted a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

During conversation with Smith, he agreed to a search of his vehicle, which yielded officers recovering more than 20 grams of heroin, almost 18 grams of methamphetamines, almost 11 grams of marijuana and about $1,800 in cash.

At the end of the investigation, Smith was arrested and charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance (Type I), possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance (Type II) and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (Type II).

He was taken to the Terrebonne Parish Jail and booked on the above-listed charges.

HPD said it urges anyone to call them if they suspect or witness criminal activity in city limits.

Anyone with a tip on criminal activity is asked to call Bayou Region Crime Stoppers at 1-800-743-7433.
