A Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office correctional officer is no longer employed after he was arrested last week for sexual battery.

On April 30, LPSO started an investigation after a complaint was made stating that correctional officer Ernest Rost, 37, of Raceland, had sexual contact with a juvenile.

Rost was placed on administrative leave at the time of the complaint, pending the outcome of the investigation.

On May 3, detectives obtained a warrant for Rost’s arrest and he was taken into custody.

He is charged on one count of sexual battery and bond is set at $50,000.

LPSO said Rost was employed by the sheriff’s office for just over 15 months. He was terminated after his arrest.

Rost was working as a correctional officer at the Lafourche Parish Jail.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
