A 70-year-old man from Gray is charged with attempted second-degree murder after allegedly shooting his neighbor.

Last night just before 8 p.m., the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office was called to the 200 block of Cypress Court in Gray in reference to a shooting.

Authorities on the scene investigated and learned that Thomas Kennedy, 70, of Gray, had walked into a neighboring residence and confronted a man sitting inside his vehicle.

Authorities said that after a brief argument, Kennedy brandished a revolver and shot the man in the face.

The argument, authorities say, was over the volume of the victim’s music.

The victim was airlifted to University Medical Center in New Orleans where he is in critical, but stable condition. He is expected to survive the shooting.

Kennedy called 911 following the shooting to turn himself over to authorities.

Within minutes, deputies arrived and took him into custody.

During questioning, the suspect allegedly admitted that the victim made no attempt to harm him.

Kennedy is charged with attempted second-degree murder.

Bond is set at $1 million.
