Several offices, schools and businesses are closing tomorrow due to expected severe weather in the area.

The Diocese of Houma/Thibodaux announced that schools are canceled tomorrow. The Diocese planned a faculty day of service, but they will no longer be required to report.

Lafourche and Terrebonne Schools were both already off on spring break.

St. Matthew’s has also closed for tomorrow, as will Nicholls State University and Fletcher. TARC is taking the day off, as will the Bayou Country Children’s Museum and the e-Learning Academy in Thibodaux.

Joining the schools will be all state offices, which will shut down tomorrow in advance of a front, which is expected to bring severe weather to the area from around 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. tomorrow.

The area remains under an enhanced risk for severe weather, according to the National Weather Service.

A squall line is going to come from the north, mixing with a volatile atmosphere locally, which is ripe for severe storms, heavy winds and even possibly tornadoes.
