Two Houma men were arrested by Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies on Tuesday for allegedly trying to cover up a non-fatal shooting.

The pair is also allegedly responsible for a reported burglary, as well.

Col. Terry Daigre, Chief Criminal Deputy, said a call was received from a local hospital regarding a patient who was being treated for a gunshot wound.

He was identified as Edward Morgan.

“Mr. Morgan told deputies he was walking on Friendswood Drive when an unidentified man approached and shot him,” Col. Daigre said. “He was uncooperative with the deputies as they tried to ascertain further information.”

During the investigation, authorities also received a report of a residential burglary on Friendswood Drive where a firearm was allegedly stolen.

During the investigation, authorities learned that the weapon had been fired inside the apartment.

Authorities said that a resident of the apartment, Tahj Mykell Bonvillain, 20, heard suspicious noises, which indicated to him the presence of a burglar.

Bonvillain then allegedly picked up a roommate’s pistol and shot the alleged intruder, Morgan, who was taken to the hospital.

Neither person wanted to notify police about the incident and both were arrested.

Morgan is charged with simple burglary and criminal mischief by filing a false police report.

Bonvillain was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice.

Morgan has a $25,000 bond; Bonvillain a $10,000 bond.
