Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Nebraska man, in connection with an ongoing investigation being conducted by Special Victim’s Unit (SVU) Detectives of the Sheriff’s Office.  Andrew Walton Moore, 34, was arrested for 2 counts of First-Degree Rape, in connection with the investigation.

In May of 2023, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division were called to an address in Gibson, where they spoke with a parent of an 11-year-old victim, who reported a series of alleged sexual abuse, which took place within the last 2 years, prior to being reported.  Through the initial investigation, Deputies identified the alleged perpetrator as Andrew Moore, and determined that the incident(s) occurred at a residence within the parish of Terrebonne, where the perpetrator lived at the time.  Deputies also discovered that Moore was currently a resident of North Platte, NE.

As the investigation continued, Terrebonne Detectives of the Special Victim’s Unit (SVU) began an investigation into the complaint.  As a result of the investigation, SVU Detectives secured an arrest warrant for Andrew Moore, who was later apprehended by Authorities in Nebraska.  The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Warrants Division completed the extradition process in Nebraska, and Moore was transported back to Terrebonne Parish on October 20th, shortly after 9:00 am.  Moore was later booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex, where he remains jailed on a $1,000,000 bond by local judges.

This is an ongoing investigation, and no further details are being released at this time.  Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

Sheriff Tim Soignet confirmed this is an ongoing investigation, and additional charges are not known at this time.  Sheriff Soignet said, “Our SVU Detectives are working diligently to bring a resolution to this investigation, and as always, we ask for peace and privacy for those affected by this unfortunate situation.  Our investigators will do what is needed to make sure this dangerous perpetrator is brought to justice.”
