Ellen Daigle Doskey, a dedicated local volunteer, has been recognized with the 2023 Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Angel Award. This esteemed award celebrates the exceptional dedication and service of individuals who have made significant contributions to the well-being of Louisiana’s children.

Doskey, an assistant district attorney renowned for her work with cases involving children in need of care, has been a driving force behind Girls On The Run Bayou Region Council. As the Founder and former President of the program, she has inspired over 4,000 young girls since 2011, guiding them towards a path of joy, health, and confidence.


Girls on the Run Bayou Region Council, an after-school initiative tailored for girls aged 8-13, utilizes running as a medium for mentorship and life lessons. The program’s dynamic and evidence-based curriculum empowers girls to enhance their confidence, kindness, and decision-making skills. The engaging sessions focus on nurturing valuable life skills and emphasize the crucial link between physical and emotional well-being.

The 2023 Angel Award recognizes Doskey’s unwavering dedication and the positive impact she has made in the lives of our youth.
