A strange case got even stranger yesterday when a Thibodaux man was again arrested and charged for entering or remaining after being forbidden – the second time in a week such an arrest was made against the suspect.

On Aug. 29, The Times reported that Zou Ruiyang, 23, of 130 Elmwood Drive, Thibodaux, knocked on the door of a home in the 100 block of Union Drive and stood motionless at the door, even when he was asked to leave, which promoted officers to be called.

On Monday at around 5:37 p.m., the same man allegedly returned to the same house and once again knocked on the door and stood motionless – even after a victim in the home asked him what he wanted.

After a while, the suspect allegedly walked away.

Authorities found Ruiyang in the front yard of his home. He father was allegedly attempting to drag him inside when they arrived.

When officers approached the suspect and told him he was under arrest, he allegedly refused to communicate with them. He also refused to comply with officers who had to carry him to the cop car after putting him in handcuffs.

Once at the Lafourche Parish Jail, Ruiyang did not get out of the vehicle and again had to be carried to the jail.

The suspect is again charged for entry or remaining in places after being forbidden.

He is now held without bond.

Thibodaux Police Chief Bryan Zeringue said steps are being taken to get the suspect the help he needs.

“Though Ruiyang Zou’s actions have not yet been violent, his reoccurring knock at the door and then standing there motionless is extremely disturbing,” said Chief Bryan Zeringue. “All law abiding citizens have a right to feel safe and secure in their own home. Hopefully Ruiyang Zou will get the help he needs before he hurts someone or is hurt by someone feeling the need to protect themselves. “
