A Thibodaux man was given his second DWI this weekend after allegedly driving while more than 2.5 times over the legal limit.

On Sunday morning at 1:27 a.m., a white pickup truck was clocked going 53 mph in a 35 mph zone in the area of Canal Boulevard and East 10th Street in Thibodaux. The vehicle was stopped by Thibodaux Police Officers in the 100 block of Pecan Street.

Officers made contact with the driver, David Ledet Jr., 45, of 103 Pecan Street, Apt. A., Thibodaux, and noticed that he was showing signs of intoxication.

Officers decided to have Ledet perform a field sobriety test, which Ledet performed poorly on.

He was arrested and brought to TPD headquarters where he allegedly blew a .215g% in the breathalyzer machine, which is more than 2.5 times greater than the Louisiana .08g% legal limit.

Ledet was charged with DWI (2nd offense) and speeding (11-20 mph over).

He posted a $1,050 bond.
