Thibodaux man charged with rape

A 37-year-old Thibodaux man is wanted for second-degree murder.
At around 1:25 a.m. on Monday morning, deputies were called to Solar Trailer Park in Thibodaux in reference to a shooting.
Upon arrival, deputies located Deeric Raymond, 29, sitting in a car with a gunshot wound to the right side of his torso.
Raymond was taken to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Authorities investigated the case throughout the day Monday and have learned that Brhian Thomas, 37, of Thibodaux and another man were involved in a physical altercation when Raymond allegedly attempted to intervene and break up the fight.
After the two were separated, Thomas allegedly pulled a gun and fired multiple rounds, including one which struck Raymond.
The suspect then fled the scene and authorities have not been able to make contact with him.
