A 23-year-old Thibodaux woman is in custody of the city’s police department after she allegedly attempted to use a hacksaw blade to try and attack her ex-girlfriend.


On May 29 at approximately 1:40 a.m., TPD said Lechelsea Jenkins, 23, of 408 John Edwards Lane, Thibodaux, went to an apartment on the 600 block of Government Circle where her ex-girlfriend was socializing with a male coworker.

After knocking on the door, TPD said Jenkins forced her way past the male victim and started attacking the female.

Police said the male was able to separate the two, telling the female victim to go into the back bedroom, while asking Jenkins to leave.


Jenkins allegedly ignored the male victim and followed the female to the bedroom, allegedly knocking down a TV and punching a hole in the bedroom door in the process.

Police said Jenkins began physically attacking the female victim again, pulling out a hacksaw blade and trying to use it on the female victim.

At that time, the male victim was able to stop Jenkins, but he suffered injuries to is hand and forearm in the process.


During that time, the female victim was able to make it outside to her vehicle and TPD said Jenkins ripped off the trunk spoiled and tried to cut her tires as she left the scene.

As TPD arrived on the scene and were speaking to the victims, Jenkins arrived back on the scene and was quickly taken into custody.

She is charged with home invasion, aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon, aggravated assault, domestic abuse battery and two counts of simple criminal damage to property.


She’s held on a $41,000 bond.
