After a layoff of four years, Art Under The Oaks is back.

The fine arts and literary festival kicks off April 21, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Edward Douglass White Historic Site on La. 1, six miles north of Thibodaux.

Admission is free.

More than 40 booths featuring artists in several media, regional and local authors will be present. Just Kids At Art Too, the Nicholls State Sigma Alpha Iota Musical Instrument Petting Zoo, dancers, live music, food and antique cars from the Lagniappe Antique Auto Club of Houma will also be on hand.

The festival is also part of Nicholls State’s “Jubilee: A Festival of the Arts and Humanities,” and is sponsored by Friends of the Edward Douglass White Historic Site.

The Edward Douglass White Historic Site, a part of the Louisiana State Museum, is the location of the White home, built in 1824. Edward Douglas White, former governor of Louisiana, and Edward Douglass White, the only United State Supreme Court Chief Justice from Louisiana, lived there. Work continues to restore and construct an equipped kitchen, garden and cistern as they were in the early days.

For more information, contact Aleta Leckelt (985) 876-7831, chair of the event, or the Historic Site at (985) 447-0915.
