Two stages of free live music – with Taj Mahal, Ruthie Foster, Corey Harris Li’l Ed & the Blues Imperials, Henry Gray and Barbara Lynn among others – finger-lickin’ barbecue and a crafts fair Oct. 16-17 at the Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival.

The fifth annual festival kicks off in New Orleans’ Lafayette Square Park.

Presented by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, the event also features area legends Jon Cleary, Shannon McNally, the Joe Krown Trio featuring Walter “Wolfman” Washington and Russel Batiste, the Honey Island Swamp Band and Big Daddy O.

Festival organizers also tout “some of the best barbecue in the South,” with a mix of traditional and non-traditional grilled styles. In addition to an extensive crafts fair, a large selection of CDs and T-shirts are also on sale.

Although the event is free, parking costs $10 a day at the Poydras Center (650 Poydras St.) or $10 for the entire festival at 601 Carondelet St. and 834 Camp St.

Festival hours are 10:30 a.m. to 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, and 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17.
