Are you an artist? Starving?

Or maybe you’re hungry for art?

Good news, the South Louisiana Starving Artist Festival, set for Sept. 18, includes the works of more than 75 artists from across the region.

The pieces include original and handmade creations such as jewelry, furniture, photography, paintings and prints, pottery, wooden crafts and more.

The festival is a fine arts show featuring talented, local artisans, according to festival organizers.

And if all that shopping truly does leave you hungry, don’t fret. The festival features many of the dishes south Louisiana is best known for: shrimp creole, crawfish etouffe, jambalaya, shrimp etouffe, crab cakes with crawfish sauce, fried sweet potato chips, chicken and andouille gumbo, red beans and rice and more.

Admission to the festival is $3 (includes youngsters ages 3 and up).

Now for the best part – 100 percent of sales of a silent auction and sales of the limited edition, signed posters benefit the South Louisiana Wetlands Discovery Center.

The family-oriented facility offers educational opportunities about this region’s fragile, unique wetland environment, and offers ways locals and tourists can help conserve and preserve the wetlands.

So, mark your calendar for this juried show and sale. Cash awards will be given, and the top artist winners will be featured in the lobby of the Holiday Inn in Houma for one month.
