May 3-6; Disney on Ice presents “Princess Wishes” (Houma) at the Houma- Terrebonne Civic Center, 346 Civic Center Blvd. Shows May 3-4 begin at 7 p.m.; May 5 at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and May 6 at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tickets are $14 and $19 (under 2 free with no seat), and are available at the Civic Center Box Office or through Ticketmaster. May 4; Messiah Montessori 5th annual Spring Gala (Houma) at Harvest Cathedral, 1224 Museum Dr., at 7 p.m. Spahr’s Seafood is catering the gala, and music is provided by the Houma- Terrebonne Community Band. May 5; Bonne Terre Garden Fair (Houma) at the Southdown Plantation House/The Terrebonne Museum, 1208 Museum Dr. Educational seminars and demonstrations by gardening experts; sales of plants, supplies and merchandise; plant disease clinic; soil test station, children’s craft activities, gardenthemed art show, museum tours and food concessions. May 12; 5K Run/Walk for Excellence and Cajun Food Festival (Houma) Sponsored by the Terrebonne Foundation for Academic Excellence in Public Education, the event kicks off with registration at 3:30 p.m. at the Courthouse Square. The 5K Run route is Main Street and Park Avenue. The Food Festival and Kid’s Corner will be held between Roussell, Goode and Belanger streets. Prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories and age groups. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Bucktown All Stars from 6 to 10 p.m. Over 25 local chefs, area restaurants and caterers will prepare great south Louisiana dishes for sampling. May 12; Terrebonne Livestock and Agricultural Fair Scholarship Rodeo (Houma) at the Houma Airbase Arena, 221 Moffet Road, beginning at 6 p.m. Sponsored by the Terrebonne Livestock Association, the event features bull riding, steer riding (13 & under), barrel racing (girls event), junior bull riding (17 & under), sheep riding (7 & under), youth barrels (17 & under, girls). May 26-28; Morgan City Power Boat Association Atchafalaya Eastern Divisionals (Morgan City) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Lake Palourde Parkway. The 1 ¼- mile course will host 13 classes of racing including 1.5 Stock, 2.5 Modified, Grand National Hydros, KRR, 1 Liter, 5 Liters, Super Stock, 2.5 Stock, National Mod, Pro Stock, G.P. and Cracker Box. May 28; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5097 Memorial Day Service (Thibodaux) beginning at noon, at Heroes Park on Talbot Avenue. The event is free to the public and will feature speakers and music in honor of the nation’s fallen soldiers. For more info: (985) 447-9804.

Throughout May; Explore Bayou Lafourche by Boat (Thibodaux) at the Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center of Jean Lafitte National Historic Park and Preserve, 314 St. Mary St. On Sundays and Mondays, cruise to Madewood Plantation, a restored plantation home. The $28 price includes lunch in the formal dining room and a tour of the plantation. Tours leave at 10 a.m. and return at 2 p.m. On Saturdays, visit the E.D. White Historic Site, home of a former U.S. Supreme Court chief justice. The $10 trip includes a guided walk. The Lafourche leaves at 10 a.m. and returns at 12:30 p.m. Reservations are required.
