Cowboys, Russian clowns, a renowned pianist, Broadway hits and the Beatles!

It can mean only one thing: The start of the 2007-2008 season of the Community Concert Association of Morgan City, Inc.

Tickets are now on sale for the upcoming season, which officially starts Oct. 21 with a performance by the multi-Grammy Award-winning Western foursome, Riders in the Sky. For over 28 years, Riders in the Sky have celebrated the rich American music traditions of cowboy legends like Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and the Sons of the Pioneers.

On Nov. 10, Cirque Russe, an ensemble of Russian circus performers will share their feats of daring, fantasy and imagination at the Schreier Theatre.

The full-length production is designed for proscenium theatres, and gives audiences an up close and personal look at the fabled Russian circus.

Jazz pianist Michael Kaeshammer will take to the stage on Feb. 17, 2008. His award-winning, critically acclaimed recordings have gained a large, international following. On his latest CD, “Strut,” a follow-up to the New Orleans-inspired “No Strings Attached,” Kaeshammer is said to have found an even deeper, funkier and more playful exploration of traditional jazz’s roots.

In March 2008, the Schreier takes “On Broadway!” A revue of show-stopping moments from the Broadway stage, the production includes dazzling choreography, dynamic music arrangements and a virtual parade of costumes, according to Geri Bourgeois, … “On Broadway!” includes from “A Chorus Line,” “Guys and Dolls,” “The Sound of Music” and “Oklahoma.” Also expect to hear songs from today’s popular musicals including “Wicked,” “Mamma Mia,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Hairspray,” “Les Miserables” and “Cats.”

And all generations, but especially baby boomers, will delight at the Community Concert series’ season closer: “Revolution.” Set for April 26, 2008, the touring show celebrates “Beatlemania.”

George, John, Paul and Ringo come to life as the cast showcases the Beatles’ greatest hits. The show offers a sublime chance to relive – or to be introduced to – the music of the world’s most popular rock ‘n’ roll band of all time!

A private subscription to the Community Concert series is $45 for adults and $10 for students through grade 12. Patron plans are also available.
