Girl Scouts are about building the 3 C’s: Courage, Confidence and Character. They also build everlasting friendships, leadership skills and, in general, strive to make the world a better place.

On Saturday, Aug. 20, St. Mary Parish Service Unit 270 is looking to build its numbers at Kid’s Day.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Berwick Civic Center is Girl Scouts central, and it’s free. There’ll be bounce houses; healthy-living activities and demonstrations, including Zumba lessons; and more than 30 local organizations, Bikers Against Child Abuse, Kids in Motion Playhouse Discovery Museum, My Heart’s Desire and the Bloodmobile among them, and vendors providing information, hands-on fun and goodies.

St. Mary Kid’s Day also provides an opportunity for families to learn more about the Girl Scout experience and register their daughters in a troop, while girls in kindergarten through 12th grade enjoy games, prizes and other fun.

Membership in Girl Scouts is $12 yearly for girls and adults. Girl Scouts’ six levels are Daisies (kindergarten-1st grade), Brownies (2nd-3rd), Juniors (4th-5th), Cadettes, (6th-8th), Seniors (9th-10th) and Ambassadors (11th-12th).
