There is no shortage of gadgets and gizmos available on the golfing market. Here are a few of the latest and greatest technologies that give superstitious golfers a mental edge on the competition.

GPS Golf Watch –

To the naked eye, the player in your group may be wearing a basic looking watch. But if he peeps onto his left arm while nestled in the fairway, he just may have something up his sleeve. Several golfing GPS watches are on the market, some loaded with as many as 3,000 courses. With the look of a standard sports watch, the time-keeping device doubles as a GPS, which gives players their distance to the flag in relation to their spot on the fairway. To get a Garmin (one of the hottest brands on the market) GPS watch, one better be a dedicated golfer, because the product carries a $300-plus tag.

Straight shooter technology –

A lot of golfers want practice. But very few are able to muster the time away from home to take a trip to the driving range. Once there, it’s even more tiresome shagging hundreds of balls around the fairways and greens of the practice range. Straight shooter technology is the answer to all of those golfing ailments. Nothing more than a golf ball attached to a spinner, the straight shooter spins in circles once struck, which allows for hours of practice anywhere. SKLZ owns one of the most popular makes of this common golf technology.

The Caesar golf ball –

This golf ball doesn’t have dimples and looks eerily similar to a cue ball in pool. The reason why one would go with a dimple-less ball is because being dimple-free creates less spin and also promotes a straighter shot. Basically, one with a dimple-free ball will hit fewer hooks and slices. But before one thinks this ball is the savior of the sport, be forewarned that normal balls travel much farther than Caesar balls, so one must be willing to sacrifice distance when making this change.

RadarGolf ball –

Sure, the GPS device is wonderful, but what if it’s not enough? RadarGolf produces a high-performance ball with microchip technology embedded in the core of the ball. The company’s website insists that the chip is so small that it does not alter the ball’s path. But what it does do is allows golfers to track their ball and use it to measure distance to the pin and other golf-related metrics.
